Chance of a new chasis...but will my engine fit???

Postby Mango76 » Thu Mar 18, 2010 6:23 pm

Hey guys!!

I have a 99 T reg 2.5 rear wheel drive transit (with only 80k miles on it), but last summer someone kindly hit the side of it and literally ripped a huge hole in it!! plus as on most transits my back doors are starting to disintergrate!!

I have just been offered a non running 2000 Y reg transit which currently has a 2.4 rear wheel drive engine.

My question is...would my engine fit into the new chasis??? i have been told that the wiring looms may be different but apparently i can get around that!! but will the engine mounts etc be in the correct places to take my 99 engine???

Thanks in advance guys

I don't think anyone has actually done this, although it has been talked about
I can't see any reason why it wouldn't fit, but I doubt it will match up with the mounts without some fabrication, and the wiring looms would have to be swapped as well

Let us know if you do it :D

it has been done - there was a mk6 Di on ebay :D

as for the wiring unless yours is a turbo theres not much to it :D but fabricating the engine mounts etc. might take a bit of work :D

like al says keep us informed if you do go for it 8)
