Transit 2000 W Reg (Ex BT) Central Locking Kit

Please can someone shed some light on this for me!!!

I am in the process of putting in an after-market central locking kit (HAWK) and an Alarm.

After taking all door cards off inc rear doors, I notice the front doors have cable for the locks and the rear is on Rods.

I have the Kit to do this conversion for central locking with the actuators etc BUT the rear door lock allows me to lock it using the rod but wont UNLOCK without the key in the door!! Why is this?? how can I get around this?

Has anyone had similar issues or tried to fit aftermarket central locking to this van???

BT Vans have Deadlocks as standard.......Change them to ordinary locks first

So are you saying the central locking kit will only be worth using on the front doors?

I dont think I can be bothered with the hassle of changing the rear door lock and having another set of keys for the locks.

As I am fitting an Alarm to this van as well, Do you think its a good idea to have a door switch fitted to the side door / back doors and bonnet?

There's a special kit for the cable operated locks, I think the 'HAWK' bloke sell 'em... looks a bit crude to me, looking for some factory C/L front door units
