Anyone put a Duratec v6 into a mk5?

Postby demag » Sat Mar 20, 2010 2:07 am

Hi all. I have a 1997 mk5 and it desperately needs more power. I've been thinking about putting a 2.5 v6 in it.
Has anyone else done this? I've tried searching the forum but can't find anything.

I wouldnt bother. The V6 Duratec has absolutely no real torque & would be awfull in a van. Even in a Mondeo its a gutless wonder, the 2.0 Zetec feels livelier.

Get the bits to turbo your engine or put a turbo engine in. I guess the insurance company will be less bothered about it too

Even with a turbo will be crap and gutless and not to mention the NOISE  just look for a 2.0 dohc or even better a 2.3, loads of cheap Scorpios about  and you won't be disappointed. 114< 150 hp

 think you must of got a sh*t one I have driven 2.0 mondy and v6 and the v6 isn't definately a lot faster although I can't provide torque figures so it still may be no good in a van

If was good enough Ford's SVO to stick a V6efi cologne in a Transit, so its good enough for me too :D they even did a supercharged V6 in the MK2 for their arctics. I'll never have to worry about torque, theres no way Ill ever have a pallet in the back
