how long to fit clutch..?

hiya, i need a new clutch for me 2.5 diesel tranny, im in france and its treble dear to get it done, so im gonna buy a new one from uk. a. how long should a garage take to fit it..? b. how can i identify which clutch i need, can u recomend a brand..?

You haven't said which van/year you have, but I seem to remember reading on here that there are only 2 types of clutch, standard or heavy duty. Unless you do a lot of towing, then the standard one should be ok :D

A decent garage should be able to fit one in under 2 hours, and I've seen one done in a hour :shock:

Ive just had a price for one for my mk5 and was told about an hour. That was by a transit specialists though so I would add some on for a general mechanic.

Most independant garage mechanics should take between an hour to 2 hours. If it's a main dealer technician they can usually quote anything from 2 - 5 hrs!! :shock: :shock: :roll:

I did mine myself yesterday single handed. Took about 4 hours. That included doing the oil seal, removing a load of oily sludge from under the van and cleaning up the gearbox with degreaser. And several coffee & cig breaks :lol:
