Mod Leak Off

Postby JohnTransit97 » Thu Apr 22, 2010 10:18 pm

Had a problem with lack of power on our Ford Transit minibus 97. Took the advice of the posts on this forum to check if mod leak off had been done. Checked it myself and felt that it looked ok. However when I took it to diesel specialist they said that the tube from number one injector should have gone around the bulkhead instead though under the inlet manifold as it was. It worked a treat and thanks to everybody the bus now reacts a lot better. Question is why does a small change of direction of the pipe make a big difference to the power?

I've never understood how the leak off mod works seeing as it is on the return line although i accept it does. How does air in the leak off pipes get back into the injectors. Surely this mod is a bodge answer to allow for injectors with a serious design flaw.
