pump tweak-cost?

O.K,
i am sure this has been covered elsewhere but i'm buggered if i can find it but i've done the pump tweak as in Markm's no fuss thread and now have the power to beat a moped off the lights! but at what cost, am i right in thinking that my fuel consumption has now gone from around 700km per tank(440 miles?) to about 550 (320miles?) or has something along the line gone wrong in the backyard workshop ? your comments would be well appreciated as i really don't want to be a moped driver!!

O.K, i didn't explain myself fully i have a 98 2.5 di and have also changed over to bio diesel which is sold at the pumps here .10€ cents cheaper than the normal stuff will this mke a difference as well, seems to run fine if not a bit quieter on the bio but maybe it's spitting more out than it should? thanks for any thoughts

It'll be fair to say that fuel consumption will take a knock but no where near what you think The slight increase in power means you can rev the engine less for the same power output, and we all know that high revs are not what fuel economy is all about

Bio diesel has a very large percentage of diesel in it anyway, anywhere between 85% and 95% with the the bio bit being nothing more than a token gesture in most cases, with the 10 cent cost saving being lost in the very slight increase in fuel used due to you having done the pump mod.

With many things in life . . you gain with the one hand and lose with the other but its not all doom and gloom.
