Fuel shut-off?

Postby executivetravel » Sun May 01, 2011 8:33 am

If a P reg 2.5 td wont stop on the key is it most likely the fuel shut off valve?

whereabouts is it, is it mechanical or electrical and does it cost much?

cheers

sounds like thats at fault..its on the back of the fuel pump but its behind a metal cover which needs removing at the pats module(immobilisor bit)sits on top of the stop valve..cheapish to buy for a mk3-5.. about 2 hours work if you never done 1 before..

Not on a TD Jay ;)

On a TD its an electronic plunger arrangement, you need to buy a repair kit DELPHI part 9109-738B Barcode 5050100006063.

You unplug the injection pump and remove the black plastic cover (4 x cross head, 4 x Allen Head). From memory the ESOS is then at the back of the pump above the metal fuel lines. Remove this and replace the plungers/seals in the kit and bolt it all back together :)

I'm having problems with mine, but the other way around. It wont start until I tap it :)

I have a 1998 2.5 Turbo diesel engine. Is it the same fix ?

I did look on Delphi but the parts mentioned above do not show any more.

I would think its more likely you have an iffy electrical connection, so take the plug off the back and make sure there is no corrosion etc.

The part no given above is a seal kit, the only ESOS related thing I can think of causing your problem is that the coils are breaking down - if this is the case you would need a complete solenoid...

you will have to go to a delphi parts dealer to get the complete solenoid... I don't know of anyone who has got one new on the site.

You could convert to bosch too if yours is a manual gearbox
