Van wanted for film shoot

Postby FredTransit » Sun Apr 28, 2013 10:58 am

I have been asked to find a van for a shoot in London on 7 May. Originally they wanted a Mk1 or Mk2 but as it MUST have a sliding side door that aint gonna happen (unless I can prize the one in the heritage collection off Ford). So does anybody have a none white Mk3/4? Its actually set present day but they want an older van. Also I have made them aware of the LEZ and they are willing to pay the charge for a diesel

What sort of condition does it have to be in? I've got a blue mk3 but its not mint by any means! The LEZ thing wouldnt be an issue either as its V6 powered.

Rear view:

And probably irrelevant but heres the engine:

Obviously the alloys could be changed for steels if needed or whatever, What is the shoot for out of interest? and finally this is only a borrow isnt it, I dont want to sell my van.

Tongue firmly in cheek.....
Just make sure there's enough solid metal where they're gonna cut the hole to fit the cannon to turn it over!!! If film makers can write off mercs and ferraris they ain't gonna have too much respect for an old transit. Sliding side door sounds like something or someone is gonna get slung in/out quickly.
Or a machine gun?
Wonder if they'll dub the sound of a Di, like Starsky and Hutch!!!
Seriously, make sure they cover you for any and all losses, take oodles of pics to prove its condition before hire and get all the finance tied up, day rate or whatever including residuals if the film becomes a blockbuster. Maybe Sabine could end up taking it round that German race track, that'd be interesting.
Films is a strange world.
I guess Fred will take care of you both.

No no no, it will be one where the hero in his sportscar skids around a corner closely followed by a fuzz car which loses it and ploughs into the side of it and then american style, blows up in a world record ball of flames
