help with 24v cosworth conversion

hi there i am putting plans together to put a cosworth 24v granada engine into my v reg td transit does anyone have any pointers regarding problems /advice what gearbox ,cluth ,lywheel, wiring problems etc any advice would be great thanks just new to this site

Cheapest route, 2.8 capri flywheel, clutch and box, then worry about where the gearstick goes later
Best, MT75 box with sierra 4X4 flyweel and clutch and you can get a V6 MT box for a tranny just bloody hard to find

on my 29i transit the mt75 looks like a standard tranny mt75 with an adapter plate to make it fit the engine but id guess the ratios are different

can u use a transit mt75 gearbox or is all the raios compleatly wrong ?

i would guess you could, it might even be possible to put the internals from a v6 sierra mt75 into a tranny casing to get the correct ratios

Only going by what ive read , you can use the transit gearbox but it doesnt last to long.

i would say the gearbox in the transit 2.9 mt75 will be not far off the same as a normal mt75, but the addapter plate will be hard to get! externaly there is no difrence !

I keep having moments of madness and thinking of putting a 24V into my mk1

if i was doing it i would go MT75 (standard tranny) via adapter plate, the other option is auto but i have a dislike of doing things the easy way

the ratios of the tranny MT75's are

close ratio - wide ratio
1st 3.89:1 4.17:1
2nd 2.08:1 2.24:1
3rd 1.34:1 1.47:1
4th 1.00:1 1.00:1
5th 0.82:1 0.82:1

i'll try to find out the sierra MT75 V6 ratios!!

but............................... same as close ratio tranny!! id guess thats the diesel box and the wide ratio will be the petrol

looking at the info on that site the scorpio v6 used the same ratios as the scorpio diesel.
so a diesel tranny mt75 should do the trick

so we think a tranny mt75 box will be ok what is the best rear diff to get to make the van rev lower and go faster also how can u get a limited slip diff does any one know thanks
