Immobiliser fault i beleive

Postby colinlgv » Mon Sep 14, 2009 9:18 pm

Hi all,

I have just got an R reg 2.5 D and when i go to start it the red light in the headlining flashs really fast and the brake warning light comes on when you try and start it,

Please help as i need to get to work asap

Cheers Colinlgv :?: :?: :?: :?:

Has that particular key been known to start the van before? If it's a spare, it might not be programmed. Do you have the red master key?

What has happened as far as i can work out it had a 2nd hand barrell and key fitted and the chip swapped because the barrel collapsed and since then it has not started :!: And no red master key

How did you manage to take delivery of the van, in that case? Is that the only key you have?

sounds like its the wrong key. Im sure you can programme the keys without the red master key sometimes says how to do it in the user book.

if theres no red master key you cant program new keys without ford diagnostic equipment and ford subscription, bypass/removal is the cheapest and best option by far :)

Red keys were only on the early Mk5's, after that you needed 2 original keys to program new keys.

every smiley Ive driven (up to V reg) has had a red key so you must have the red master key to program it up.

You can only use 2 keys to program if you have a blue chip in your key

It all depends on what PATS system you have, there was a change over from PATS 1 to PATS 2 part way though the Mk5 build years. If you van has PATS 2 then you need 2 original keys to program new keys. On a V reg it should have had PATS 2 meaning no Red master key.
