2000 SMILEY FRONT CAMPERVAN. About a week after replacing my cambelt the red light started to come on. I took it to fords who reset the timing saying it was slightly out on the camshaft. Ocasionaly now the engine seems to get a bit jerky then the light comes on and it goes into get you home mode. If i stop and restart sometimes it takes a few goes it is back to normal. Apart from this it runs realy great. HELP PLEASE

Any fault codes read while it was in to Ford's

They told me it was a pump calibration fault. They said they had removed all the fault codes. Thanks for the reply.

I did go back to fords but all they said was injector pump problem and gave me details of a specialist. When I went to them they said they would get me a new pump and it would cost me £800 but they would not guarantee it would work. I have been out today (about 20 miles) it happened again after about 12 miles I stopped and restarted and it was ok. Apart from that it starts and runs perfectly. If it was the pump surely it would not run that well. Thanks again.

At last problem diagnosed. The problem is the camring sensor inside the epic pump. It is going to cost a bit but there should be no more red light problem.

The van has done just over 65,000 miles.

That's very low to have wear in your pump
You sure it's not air getting in to upset the system

Have you been using cheap/non diesel

I would be inclined to get that timing re-checked as well

Timing has been checked 3 times so I think that can be ruled out. Where can air get into the system?

Sounds like the same problem that i had. After 10-15km's of drive from cold the red light always came on, if i switched the ignition off and on, on the fly. It did work again next 2-15km's until the RED LIGHT came back again.

Mine did not shown any pump related fault codes. the real fault was the pump speed sensor witch baths in diesel fuel inside the pump. I assume that you have checked all easy things, like replacing fuel and air filter.

Sorry i forgot to mention this, i got the codes read at local ford dealer. They said it was an accelerator pedal problem, so i replaced it but nothing happened. I dont know if the pump speed sensor code came visible after pedal change but it was not there when the van was in the ford dealer.
