performance discs & pads

Postby matt hayward » Sat Sep 09, 2006 3:59 pm

My front brakes are ok at the moment, but i was told that the pads & discs will need replacing in the next 3,000 miles.

I could of course replace them with standard parts, but i wondered if there were any performance parts available, and what difference they would make (if any?)

has anyone done this?

cheers, matt

On my 85hp I've got vented discs, suppose you could fit this type, are you not happy with your present arrangement?

what i ment was cross drilled/ slotted types with performance pads, thought they might have better 'feel' and stop the van quicker. or maybe not.

I don't think you will get any that will go straight on, it has been talked about before. You can't even get performance pads. :(

Vented!!! oops

Postby sportscott » Sat Sep 09, 2006 9:17 pm

Yes they are all vented, I've got what are probably called slotted, looks like two discs together with a squigly groove on the contact faces.

I was always told that "high performance " brakes dont work when cold then bang your nose on the screen when hot. If I were you I would (and will when I need them) stick to good quality original equipment. Like the man says, paint the calipers!
