Had one of them in my first Britool socket set in 1969 remember welding it on to something to make a tool up could never understand what it was made for I think there was another 32 size socket in the set

Much to think of there, thanks all. Hope to get it up on stands this week and maybe I'll be able to reach the contraption. At present it's so close behind the bodyside that I can't get round the spare itself to bring anything to bear on it.

Always hated that winch system, I put a ladder on the rear left door and mounted the spare on it. Will be placing an air tank for compressed air in it’s place, or one could put a water tank.

Yes the mk 1&2 was the best a good solid system and you couldn’t nick it from under the van without a lot of cutting
