I'm all exited !!

Roving Repairs is comming in the morning to service the van and also we're gonna get stuck into the locks.

I'm also gonna make a list of ither things that may need attention, like remove butterfly/cap off egr, difficulty in selecting 1st, steering rack getting notchy etc etc

I hope it dosn't snow before he gets here but it's pretty well sheltered, plus he's gonn a be well fed with plenty of tea and buscuits :D

Yeah!

But the rivets drilled out of the metal surround plate pretty easy with Dans uber-drill :D

Its a very short link rod too and I bet that what the struggle is eh Dan?

Not half chaps, not half !! rediculus to work in such a confined space - i've lost a square inch of skin on both hands!! I feel sorry for mechanics that have to replace these latch mechanisms.

Drivers door... I got it in pretty easy and connected it all up and was happy. BUT... the locking rod has such a long throw from unlock to lock (25mm linear) that the actuator hasn't (12mm). It will lock, but not unlock, or unlock but not lock.

This is because these std ford lock on the fronts return to center after locking or unlocking so this play is built into the actuating of the lock. the actual unlock/lock ON the lock body is fine.. it's just getting at it so.....

I need to modify the units either side. I called the transit breaker in basford (Off Radford Rd) and he's giving me a couple of locking assy's for a fiver. Picking them up during work tomorrow.

I'm going to modify the internal door levers as well so they open the door but don't lock or unlock it. Easy actually i did it by accident when messing about with them tonight. the internal locking and unlocking will be done by the 2 wires provided off the main unit inside that when earthed via a switch lock/unlock the vehicle. these 2 switches are going in the spare spaces near the fag lighter.

Rear doors.. easy. perfect seamless remote operation.

I've finished the electrics now for testing purposes and just need to run wires now to each door. the units lock/unlock pretty seamlessly.

the front doors will have the key opening option but the rear doors and side will be completely keyless.

It's a mission but i expected it to be. the biggest potential problems have been the easiest to solve !!

Oh yeah kev mate.. I have your short reach little screw driver on the passenger seat. The vans running like a dream mate, cheers. I've wrote a report up for the suppliers section whick luke has now and it'll be up soon.

Yeah i'm on Northfield Avenue tomorrow Kev off the a52 bingham side of radcliffe doing a shower.

I picked up new latches today and have done the nrcessary alterations to just the drivers side for now.. just yet to fit it in - dreading that bit. My alteration means the lock can lock and unlock off the actuator without affecting anything else to do with the lock.

like this....

Yeah she said you'd been mate. I finished today in radcliffe at 3pm and went to give you a ring... only to discover i havn't got your number in my phone either ! I'm off next wednesday so i'll give you a shout then.. I'm passing through your nect of the woods tomorrow lunch looking at a job in sawley.

drivers door is done !! locks, unlocks woohooo

When you hit the unlock it pulls in the inner handle as well, and out again. plus you can manualy unlock with the key and that'll unlock all doors then.

Anyone would actually think i knew what i was doing !!

hi Ian.. yeah the front drivers door and rear doors are working perfick !!

Put it all back together early thismorning but havn't done alot more since. Wired up the indicators to flash now though and am waiting on a chirper to sound with the flashes. So the right hand side of the vehicle is complete. Pics of the rear doors will be up as soon as i take off the rear plyboarding again.

Side door is next which will be OK after looking at it today and the passenger door will be last. Total time that's gone into now is infinity hours.

100% reliability is what i'm looking for and it hasn't started doing stupid things as yet.

from the original mod i had to shave some off and drill a new hole at it stuck out too far and the lock would go back in !!....

Unit mounted onto it's bracket. Bracket mounted onto 2x1 timber and then screws through the door securing the 2x1 solid.....

Rover said use a bin bag to replace the polythene stuff so... i did......
