I appreciate your comments so far and your reluctance to discuss such items on an open forum, however I am now at the point where I scrap the van if I can't get any help.
How can I tell if I've got the early system or pats2? Would you be willing to explain in a pm what I need to do. I don't want to remove or kill the pats system, just bypass it temporarily so I can get the van to a uk dealer to have the new key programmed.

how old is it
If you have plastic cover its early pats, if its metal its PATS 2, either way remove the cover, find the stop solenoid, rest should explain itself
