I've never seen a sensor below the starter on a Di

The only sensor down there should be the crankshaft position sensor and thats above the starter up below the fuel filter, it slides into the hole used for the crank pin.

your right looking at my pics its below fuel filter is this sensor needed as my current van aint got one

oh and after today i have decided im definately going to need an engine lift it took 3 of us to try a drag the thing into my garage i swear it looked easy when it was being forked onto the other van

Just had another look in the dark with a torch....I've got a sensor that I presume is the oil pressure switch, nearest me, and the one further away(next to it) from me (nearer the starter motor) has a tube connected to it which strangely goes to the back of my alternator's vacuum unit I guess if you don't have that alternator you could try blanking it off I'll look into this a bit further if I can

cheers mate i dont want to get halfway thru this to find theres gonna be loads of probs i want to get in asap will steam clean engine tommorow and belt it up then just a case of ditching all that intake manifold and swapping it for mine

Could it be lubrication for the vacuum unit And how come the older ones didn't need this

you need a square frame with some wheels on from a shopping trolley to wheel them about

or a fork lift to move them around..

problem is space is tight and dont have access to a fork lift have made a temporary cart to move it about just got to get a lift to put it in

i made this bike trailer when i was 14 just proves i over engineer things
at least i can move the engine about now i have given it a good degrease today have just put a load more on and will wash it in the morning

have you took the old one out yet, i find it easier when fitting an engine to drop the engine & box in together

no mate she's still in if you think that will ber easier then i might try that as it looks quite a precise job lining up all these holes

M8, if you have an epic equipped engine in your van now......it has a CKP (crank) sensor. It won't run without it

thats how i do it, hang the engine so the gearbox is slightly pointing downwards drop it in and put a jack under the box as it goes through the bulkhead, drop the engine mounts on and lift the gearbox into position, saves alot of hassle trying to line it up

maybe thats why it dont run ok maybe its hidden by all the extra police wiring

i would be putting a bosch pump on this engine whilst its out don't need to worry bout silly sensors feel free to try my van out if your passing through
