my dads van had it by the starter motor :? :? still rotted just as quick :evil:
You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

nope mk5's are under the bonnet his is a late 97!!

I think you'll find that earlier vans had them on/near the fan motor and later ones behind the offside headlamp and don't confuse it with the dim dip resister :lol: :lol: :lol:
Haven't checked my 2000 model as it's still working :!: maybe they've moved it again :roll: :lol: :lol:

my 95 had it on the slam panel it's now been moved to the inner wing were it looks as new 8)

AndyG, yes they are very similar ;) but it was a coincidence the question about the lights with my post...reasoning was electrical and bad earth can have a knock on effect......think how many problems on this forum are a chaffed wire giving problems elsewhere.

Yeah I fully agree with you :!:
I had a poor melted connector and gave all sorts of wierd symptoms :roll:

But I had to mention the dim dip resi. as no one else has :idea:

Got one today, fitted it but still no luck, replaced both connectors and tested it, still only off and fast.

chacked voltage at ends of both wires and reads 0 :( is there anything between the switch and resistor thay could be broken, i guess there is no separate fuse for the slower speeds :?:

Have you checked that it has a good earth?
