but you want to dislodge all of that junk and get rid of it ?

other thing is, I've never bought a new van, so have done it on vans with 160k on where it's never been done before!

Yes you do but in a controlled manor, that was why I said run some cheap oil through it then refill with the correct oil.

i bought my 2.5Di with 153k miles on the clock, It now has 196k miles on it and i have been flushing with 50/50 new oil/diesel every 5k miles. I drain the old oil when hot, fill with the 50/50 mix and run on tickover for 20-30 min's with the odd blip on the throttle, drain this and fit new filter and fill with clean oil. the van always runs better after a good flush.

50/50, not neat low lube diesel?... why not just add a pint of diesel to the old oil?... seems like a waste, unless you squirting that old mixture into the chassis :)
On some of those ADD to flush jobs, it tells you not to over rev or drive... and you're only putting in less than a pint!
Just don't think neat diesel offers enough lube protection?
