Check the engine management bulb is working before you do anything else. Should stay on until you turn the engine on then go out (or stay on if you have engine trouble ). If not you have to take the dash out to replace it (£15 from Ford just for the bulb! but you can use one of the others like the trailer bulb). Then you'll have more info.

The box may have a problem 
Ford Transit 120 TDI EPIC Automatic. 0-60 in a leisurely and smooth 12.7 seconds and 1/4 mile in 19.1 seconds. Now where's all these faster? manual Di s?
