Well I borrowed a friends GPS and, dissapointingly, the results are just as I suspected. The speedo is now 100% acurate.
Of course that means that it was over reading before and I was driving everywhere at 55mph!
Also that my mpg figures were optimistic. Bah!
It also implies that perhaps the Police changed the axle at some time. Hmm..

so go on top speed???
You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

Well I had a bit of a problem with the air intake temperature sensor on my first trip so I'm not sure. I'll let you know!

Thanks but I've got one now. The local scrappy chucked it in for nowt when I bought a glove box lid from them. It works fine. I can only think that they took it out to fit the plastic armour under the roof lining and forgot to put it back!

On the auotoroute in France it got up to about 83 (indicated) but that was at 3800 rpm and I didn't fancy going higher than that. Didn't like that hills too much though, it was down to 50 with my foot to the floor in 5th a couple of times. Not too much stuff in the van either. I'm going to have to get to a weigh bridge and see how much all the armour has added!
Also I tried a different GPS and it showed the speedo as under reading. Hmm.
