It doesn't make it any quieter, was the one you were looking at a turbo?

Nope it had a bosch pump too, does that make any difference?

turbo di is much quieter dont ask me why but when you go along in a turbo and then get in a N/A there is loads of difrence! :)

I think you might just have heard a quiet engine becuase the sump guard really wont make it quieter.
