also if you are thinking of painting your callipers then hamerite smooth gold is near as the corect coluor you will get!

There is an ATE kit for sale HERE and at that price i think i will stick to the ones i have until i sling a hefty chevy lump in the van

hmm, all very interesting.

I take it that if you paint the calipers you have to take them off first (to avoid getting paint on the discs etc) or can you paint them in situ?

dont think i'll be forking out a grand for a brake kit though (though at least i'll know who to make the cheque out to come the lottery win )

would a bigger ransit have better brakes?

i had assumed that the big 3500kg vans would have uprated brakes and i could fit them

Paint them in place and no you can't fit the bigger brakes as they are 6 stud.

When I bought the Van the Guy said it recently had new discs but there was no mention of an astronomical price! there's nothing special about the calipers that I've noticed but will get a look tomorrow and will ask by the Stealer and at motor factor which I use over the cost of such discs. Maybe they are only available in continental europe Can't really say I've noticed much in the performance as have'nt really driven the van much as I use my old 91 Mk3 Chuggie more and I'm 40 years old and well past the driving like an idiot phase

Just been around to the motor factors about the brake discs and there were enough performance parts to choose from. Brembo discs the same as I have are priced at 90 euro each. Also on offer were EBC Brakes which are made in UK. http://www.ebcbrakes.com
