My mk3 has a MK4 engine in it, with a 3 bolt on terminal alternator (on the top) and I run mondeo MK1 dials, works fine!!!!

The spare connection on alternator goes to pin 8 on the big plug, yes.
What volts did have on tick over?

Ive had this someone else on here too and now I cant find it...
I think I had something like 7.6 volts AC on tickover

Hi, I have just finished fiting a rev counter to my Transit looking at your clock plugs it looks like the rev counter should run the wires are there, if it dosn't work run a feed from the alternators right hand pin the wire should be white with a black stripe conect the other end to the large conector at the back of the clocks, terminal 8 this also has a white/black trace wire, the clocks should now work.

Hi,
remove the front, take out the rev counter4 torx screws grrr when you pull the rev counter out there is a calibrating screw on the pcb adjust to suit. I set mine to 750 at tickover it seems about right.
