Just been looking through my TIS disc (which I've now borrowed on a permanent basis) and I've found out that, after pink they went to orange on the 85PS with the code ...4f-AC and mine are even later as they are ....4f-AD Ford may have run out of colours

just picked her up today and im very happy with her,grand and tight good brakes plenty of poke anyone i showed it to today said it was in great shape even my very critical cousin!just a few things though ,had her cruising at 60 most of the way home and it was at very high revs and felt it could do with another gear im assuming this is normal?but could the ratio in the diff be changed,i know it was suggested somewhere else in the forum that you could just replace the whole axle and is there any mt75 boxes with 6 speed?im not being fussy but just like to know my options!i also read in the owners manual that the diesel tank capacity is only 68 litres.ill try and get some photos up when i can

Well done
Sounds like you have a "slow" ratio axle to me but this should give you a faster than usual accelleration and more pulling power
If you look in your passenger footwell you'll see the ID Plate. On the right hand side of the panel, go three boxes down and 4 boxes across, this tells you what type of axle you have and the next box (fifth box across) tells you the ratio.
It is in code though but I can look it up for you
Yes, if it's too slow I'm pretty sure you can change it specially now as the weather is getting nicer

Where do I start

Your axle is a; 51A Heavy Salisbury without L.S.D.
Ratio is the middle option which is 5.14 (others available;4.63 and 5.83)

The code to look for if you go to the breakers is "G". At the moment yours is "J".

Other info i can tell you (But don't quote me in case I'm wrong)

You have bought yourself a; White Short wheelbase low roof Transit 150 with a diesel 100 PS engine with turbo charger (classified as a 73.6 Kw@4000rpm)

You have two front hinged doors, a nearside sliding side door and twin (barn) doors at the rear.

The gearbox is a manual box, type MT75 5 speed wide ratio (4.17)

Independant front suspension.

High centre of gravity vehicle (probably means it sits high and has at least a front anti-roll bar. If not a rear one as well)

You have; Windrush (or Cordwain pvc seats) and cordwain pvc door trim in dark lapis/opal.

You also have an SVO

But I can't (at this stage) tell you what it is

Where your plate has a "J" it needs to say "G".

But having a middle ratio axle is quite normal and as your van is quite a late one like mine, maybe they skimped on the sound insulation as well and that's what the problem is.

no ive no rev counter,yeh its actullay hard enough to know what revs the engine is at cos there is so much background noise its not that it bothers me its just i dont want to think im wasting to much fuel while reving high at sixty,if i put in a higher ratio diff id probably lose quite a bit low of down torque?

Yeah that's right, you would loose torque Remember that you are on 15" wheels not 14"

As for rev counter, due to some people not being successful putting in a Mondeo unit, if you can't get a proper Tranisit set of clocks, it may be far better to add an after market rev counter that you may mount near the A pillar, perhaps

I can't guide you as mine has 14" wheels, but for what it's worth I also have a mid ratio axle and at approx. 70mph the rev counter says 3000rpm which is the fastest you should go before you wave goodbye to economy

We're talking when the economy starts to dissapear

Mine's been up to 4600rpm using the kickdown I hate it revving that high as it sounds like i could be greeting the pistons

Mate sorry .If you read carefully I did say for what it's worth. As mines got a different axle with 14" wheels.

Meaning you could be at 3000rpm when you are doing 60/65mph.
I can't really help here but perhaps another 6 studder/15" wheels member can didn't mean to mislead you
