An awful lot of time is being spent pointing the finger at a sloppy exhaust fitter, when the fault may lie elsewhere. The owner says he put another £20 worth of fuel in. So we can assume he is running around on an empty tank all the time. A sure way to stir up any dirt and block the filter.

Tie a can of fuel under the bonnet somewhere and run 2 pipes direct to the injector pump ( through a £1.50 throw away filter ) and see if you still have the fault!

Any coincidence theorist would agree Rick, it's a mathematical probability. Even bad vibes affect my motor.

See now, I was thinking it was something to do with the earth tilting slightly. The flux capacitor on my Golf was a little slow to start up the other day too. I wonder if the apocalypse is in sight? Either that or the in-laws are down...........

Hi Matt how ya diddlin', remember that hole on the bottom of my front crossmember, me mot dude muttered about it a few weeks back doing my ticket and i can't be arsed to get all the welding gear out just for that so will you do it for me if i pop over to the unit at some convenient time? It's a skilled job though as it needs a squarish bit of flat steel about 6x5 inches welded onto a flat surface.

Mice - Give me a bell and I can do it on Monday if that is any use? Do you want to bring up some dinotrol or waxoyl or BJT tweed spunk to seal it up afterwards?

Re the issue with this thread problem - lift pump was leaking and then dripping onto exhaust causing massive drop on economy and a big mess on the floor.

Manifold to downpipe nuts were barely tight. I'd managed to undo 2 of the 3 with my fingers. Removed and refitted with appropriate amount of exhaust paste just to take up and issues on a 15 year old flange

Certainly wouldn't recommend the garage that was responsible for the paste - I can't think even a halfords autocentre or kwikfit apprentice mechanic could have done a worse job.

Hey ho....

Oh you say skilled - you'd better bring it up then as I wouldn't want to ruining your amby!

The boy done me proud...very grateful to Matthew, good bloke.

The look on his face when I asked why his hole was bigger than mine was priceless....

Just to clarify even just refitting the Manifold end of the exhaust has given it a noticeable increase in torque and its now that bit quitter at 60mph...got a bit noisy at around 75mph coming down A14 steering was rather vague to say the least.

And them balls were the biggest and juiciest ive had for many a year...had juice dripping down me chin...
