if you need a cable drive one then you need a mondie from 93-95 after that they tend to be electric :( its the mk1 mondie so the 1st shape :) usually loads kicking about at scrappies :D
You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

And don't forget that if you're not sure if the mondeo your looking at is electronic or cable, one simple check without having to take it out first is to look at the trip counter reset pin that you push to zero the counter. If it's on the left of the speedo head=cable. On the right of the speedo head=electronic. Hope this helps maxlee. :D

If you have read all through this thread you will see that the Mondeo clocks I got are cable driven and are useless to me and are now for sale/swap, so it will save dragging the missus around the breakers if you have mine...assuming you need the cable driven type.

:!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: If you have a set of clocks you're not using they must be stored facing up :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: If you don't the oil for the damping effect leaks out over the dials

ok fitted my dials from a d mondeo all ok took out the abs and air bag lamps all ok ran a wire from the alternator b/w to pin eight all ok started her up and the rev counter worked, sort of
the problem is this the rev counter is only multiplying by 100 not by a 1000
so on tickover it is reading 7000 instead of 700
but the needle is reving with the engine

any ideas please peeps

thank you tony

ps my dash is an electronic speedo
with the late type alternator with the plug on the side

I would disconnect the wire from the alternator just to see if it is having some kind of adverse effect...obviously I haven't got as far as you have since my Speedo cluster is the wrong type for my Transit.
There is a speed sensor? on the steering column that might be the required connection...one is yellow (mine has nothing in this) and the other a little higher up the loom towards the key is black. It is my understanding that one of these plugs is the speed sensor for the optional rev counter. Nighthawk was explaining this in the thread about using a speed sensor to tie up with a sat nav...I did post in the thread asking him to come across to this thread to explain the plugs but he hasn't shown up as yet.

Ok but this was why I posted on the thread that Nighthawk got involved in as his passing comment about the plug and optional rev counter all seemed to match.

Thread is here http://www.fordtransit.org/forum/viewto ... ght=#34366

The thread IS about a 2000 model but Nighthawks post talks about how they were fitted so then it all ties up ;)
