right guys im back to the transits as my astra van blown !!

just aquired a 1999 t reg lwb transit smiley, with the banana engine finally :), is there any things i can do to this engine to get it run smoother/ slightly faster, its much much faster than the 2 70hp engines ive had, well its tidy for age other than your usual transit rust, but only service rust, it has had some keg around arches and some on body, but as we know panels are easy to come by and easy to replace, could do with 2 new front arches thats about it as havent looked over her fully yet, finally got a good one anyway bodywork could do with a polish and some paintwork tidying wait till summer for that, but it runs 100% really happy with her :). any thoughts on what i could do to tidy/smarten her up would be greatly appreciated, GLAD TO BE BACK !!! :):):) btw cause theres no pics its a standard smiley 2.5 banana engine lwb transit, so you can give me ideas without pics for now :)

Do the pump mod for a start. http://fordtransit.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=3968
Then do the EGR mod. Use the "Search" box to find details. If you really like getting your hands dirty
you could always take off the banana manifold and thoroughly clean the inside of all the oily carbon and
creeping crud inside that will be choking it up. Then treat your van to a little cocktail of 2T oil and
acetone every time you fill the tank. Works wonders for a smoother and quieter lump.

it looks good for what ive seen but havent been under it properly yet, is there any places that i need to check like worst places for rot etc : mot fails and that, pictures would be good ;)

steps look good still under and inside
sills both still look solid
under front and rear arches still look solid no major rot i can see without prodding it
havent looked at rear cross member yet

i also want to take rear floor board out but im not sure as my last transit give me a fright lol was holes everywhere, arches werent connected to the floor cause the holes were massive lol

Front and rear crossmembers, spring hangers, steps and sills. To be honest you are best getting underneath and starting at one end and working your way along the van.

I bought a mk5 cheap had twin side doors etc and was a nice van to drive, when i removed the boarding there wasnt a floor  . Might have some pictures still.

i have had a look under van tonight with torch as can see it better, cross members are solid all over really surprised, theres barely any crud or rust under neath the van just a bit or surface rust here and there, sills are solid but about 2 part pushed in like a jack has been on them at some point, steps are solid still inside and out, floor looks solid from underneath but going pull boards up when i have some time probably tomorrow as im interested in how it will be as it does look, its probably the best transit ive had underneath wise apart from bodywork being tatty but that will bve sorted, i dont think underneath is a worry then, its only done 106,000 anyway for a t reg is good
