Replaced broken clutch cable, discovered that the auto adjustment type is easily replaced with manual adjustment type if you have the pedal etc also did swabar bushes and got rid of a muffler

Mk5 turbo diesel.

Took half the top end of motor off, replaced some valves after a valve dropped. Got a seat and valve machined. Replaced the turbo pipes and put a set of fresh gaskets on. Replaced a faulty pump and replaced the water pump, belt and tensioner. Full degrease.
Drives like new.

Hi Everyone. I still got my mk5 1997 lwb hightop. Due another mot in 4 weeks. Ive had it since 2000 sadly to my kids disgust. Mind you they still talk about events weve been to when they were growing up and they slept in it.
Several body parts replaced and numerous welding on chasis. Always gets a wet drivers floor but apparently they all do. I am thinking about getting a newer one. Any ideas anyone?

Mot'd my old 1991 tipper today, advisories on trackrod, rear light cluster earth flashing and rust by towbar mounting, which I intended to weld up but I forgot as she's been off the road since may 2017 after some twat pulled out in front of me and bent me nearside front end and wing.
An unrelated shoulder injury then sciatica has prevented a quick back on the road, but I've been slowly bending it straight n welding it all up, adding a wing and a half and an arch section oh after cutting out and adding some metal to the outer edges of the inner wings first
So now she's mot'd again I just need find somewhere to spray the cab all the same colour, and I suppose I may as well do the tipper body while I'm at it

Now two legal tippers chug!

Took the exhaust manifold and turbo off to replace the three studs that hold the two together.

All three snapped on a recent trip to Germany, managed the return trip with the two parts wired as close as possible to keep it as quiet as possible. Luckily most of the drive back was motorway, but it got turned off at Europoort so as not to smoke us out and deafen everyone at Customs.

They must have snapped due to the ill-fitting replacement downpipe I put on in 2018, as in it didn't quite line up with the support bracket on the back of the gearbox but was made to using brute force and ignorance. Whilst it's all apart I'm going to slightly alter the shape of the pipe to make it a better fit.

I've been sussing out my turbo engine with a view to fitting in the spring/summer(when its warmer) and been looking at the exhaust manifold fitting and I'm gonna cut n shut a standard exhaust downpipe to the right angle, but your post has nudged me to make sure I get it all sitting sweet with no tension before welding it together. thanks Mat.

But today I've been stripping a couple of Bosch pumps and cleaning and selecting all the nicest looking bits to make a good one to go on the turbo engine :D
