just looking at eeeeeebyegum, there's a joint in Houghton-le-Spring doing 'Grenlander' in 185/75/16 for 60 sovs a fitted new bouler.

Can't be any worse than the under-specced 'Transporter' tyres that were on our namby-pamby Mk7 when we got it. Remember the transporter accident at the start of Star Trek The Motion Picture?

AHH
185/75/16.

Running on 185/80/15.

Bigger rim lower profile tyre

So the nedddly speedometer wouldn't become slightly erected as I originally thought.

Never did get around to making the revolution counter work

Might have a wire poking session over the holidays.

I should've said in that post to buy some 16" rim jobs first. The change won't make any difference to the nedometer. I wonder if it's possible that the speedo can be altered in the same way as the ned co to make it read properly...

Winter began and the guys began to worry about winter tires.
About ten years ago, the government of Yanukovych, who was expelled from Ukraine, canceled the technical inspection of cars and made it mandatory to use winter tires in winter.
These were two worthy deeds of that government.
Since then, I have two sets of wheels with summer and winter tires on all cars.
Today I drove on ice covered with water and my winter tires 16" on the rear axle pushed the car, and the front 15" held the road.
I don’t remember the brand of tires and their size, I never use Chinese tires because of their poor quality and I don’t use tires and other goods from Russia because of their poor quality and for political reasons.
The big wheels and rear axle from the 2007 Transit give a -20% error when measuring speed and mileage on the speedometer, so I multiply them by 1.2 to get the real values.
At a speedometer of 80 kilometers per hour, the real speed is 96.
I'm used to driving with a speedometer reading of 80 ... 85 on the old rear axle, after replacing I continue to drive with the same speedometer readings.

Put a hub cap back on at the front, which is only slightly less exciting than washing the fridge and hob, which I did afterwards. Mind you, neither of those wee tasks could match the sheer exhilaration of moving the camper forwards about 18 inches, for almost no reason whatsoever.

Had to "clutchless shift" again.

The "lug" in the cab the cable runs through appears to be flexing
giving the symptom that the cable needs adjusting. :(

Hoping it holds out for "setting away" until the weekend.
I'll over engineer the sh*t out of it then :D

Chopped out loads of rusty inner sill. Made some new bits of sill from a storage heater front panel. Tomorrow I'll be w_l_i_g.

We_di_g.

Feel free to fill in the gaps. That's what I've been doing all day.

Found more g_ps to w_ld.

Probs be wel_ing on Monday afternoon and all Tuesday too.

MoT on Wednesday a.m. I think it needs front shocks. They're not leaking but I think the rod guides have worn as you can rattle the tops of the tube on the rod.

Well done Mat, especially in this cold weather too, you've got another year for the old girl, I've also been welding the last few days too, but this time its on the tipper body and not the actual van, I was halfway through the last bit and it rained, so I'll have to finish that bit at the weekend, then just got the priming and painting to do.

I don't mind working in the cold, it's laying on the concrete in the frost that's unpleasant, and the cold isn't good for painting either. anything inboard got black hammerite underseal, which doesn't care about the cold, those bits outside got high zinc primer to fend the rust off until the rain goes away.

I'm pleased that it went through first go, and the advisories are easy to sort. I'm hoping to keep it until at least the next big Transit anniversary (2025) then I *might* go to a mk7 jumbo, if only because it would be less tiresome to drive over long distances. Not many HiCubes left now, and possibly only a handful of LongCubes.

Welding bits it didn't fail its MoT with, though I think at least one place should've been a fail.
