If you mean the sill under the sliding door, any chance you could post a pic strip showing how you do it? I'm about to do the same job and would appreciate a clue or two.

Unfortunately I have a chassis cab.
Not a van with sliding doors

I can post a few photos about replacing the threshold under the sliding door.

Please do, there's very little left to weld to even with a new sill panel.

I removed the old threshold, it turned out that the gutter connecting the threshold to the body had rotted.
I had to remove the lower guide of the sliding door.
I curved a thin stainless steel gutter and replaced the rotten one.

Then I attached the new sill to the body top and bottom with self-tapping screws.

I set the threshold so that it covers the bottom edge of the door from below and protects it from road dirt. This prevents the bottom of the door from corrosion.

When I removed the threshold and the gutter, a picture of body corrosion was revealed. I cut out all the rotten places and installed fresh iron. What was at hand.

On the back side of the opening, I also had to cut and cook, but this did not get into the frame.
Then I welded everything with electric rivets - welding of thin parts through the hole.

Never seen electric rivets in the UK, where can I get some? Will they be accepted as seem welding?

I've never heard of electric rivets... do you have a photograph of what you mean?

Its unlikely they would be accepted for anything structural at MOT - but lets have a look!

Electric rivets - welding connection of two thin sheets of steel through a specially drilled hole in one of the parts. Welding can be any manual arc, semi-automatic with carbon dioxide, argon-arc or even gas.
I weld parts with semi-automatic carbon dioxide welding.
In the last photo of my previous post, these electric rivets are clearly visible.
