Changed the wheel bearing that wasn't broken

Play could have been taken up with a re grease and correct nipping up.
The noise/roughness was rust on the stub axle chaffing on the grease cover/seal on the inner bearing.

Oh well the mot God has been appeased for another year.
Slight fluctuation can barely be felt and I'm not scraping the "heavy underseal" off.

Replaced this. Was still working on settings 2 & 3. Managed to get it out fairly quickly considering its location. New one held in place with the one screw that is remotely visible from footwell!

About two years ago, I decided to replace the rear crosspiece on the propeller shaft of my MK3 with a constant velocity joint,CV joint , this is behind the outboard bearing on this shaft.
I was having problems replacing this crosspiece.
I bought two or three old propeller shafts, cut the rear shaft sections and welded them in one piece.
To dock the CV joint with the gearbox flange, I had a counter flange, I welded the counter flange and the CV joint body.
I drilled a hole in the center of the CV joint body to a diameter of 40 mm, installed it on the shaft along the CV joint, to one of them I screwed the manufactured adapter, removed the back of the cardan and replaced it with a homemade one.
I drove out onto the road to check the frame shaft for vibration.
I accelerated the car to a speed of 100 km / h, there is no vibration.
I am currently using a homemade propeller shaft rear end.

Strangely, in 15 years of Mk4/5 ownership I only ever had throttle cables fail, one on each :?

Immediately after purchasing the Transit, I had a problem with replacing the rear crosspiece. The previous owner of the car damaged one fork.
I bought three MK3 driveshafts, one also had a factory cross on my gearbox flange, one on an alternative gearbox flange and one had no cross at all. From the first and last driveshafts, I made my own version on the CV joint.
We call "shed engineering" "collective farm tuning".
Gotgcoalman, thank you for the appreciation of my work!
The Volzhsky Automobile Plant VAZ in Russia produces cardan shafts for Niva 4х4 on a CV joint.
For 15 years of ownership of Transit, the throttle cable broke once, the clutch cable broke twice.

Yes nice "collective farm tuning" Cherniy.

I think I've only ever had one throttle cable snap, but I've had several clutch cables go over the years but always managed to get back home with clutchless gearchanges and starting the engine in first gear after having to stop.
