Changed the offside front hub, the wheel bearing started squeaking and then got louder then five miles later at home hub was too hot to touch, looked again later and the hub nut was so tight I think it's welded itself on, gonna need cutting off, decided it was quicker/easier to swap another hub off the other truck and deal with the hub nut another day.

Today I have ...........
Changed the fuel filter and speed thing on the gearbox.

The mk6 speedo very kindly donated by Ned the wallpaper guy now indicates that the van is moving

Tip for you lazy types (like me)

Fill new filter before fitting and spray wd40 or similar in the air intake.
Van will fire on the aerosol and purge the bit of air in the fuel system.
Saves digging the 17mm spanner out

Popped into local engineering place for some "just in case metal"

Sometimes washing machine side panels aren't robust enough when you start poking the chassis

2mm stuff has many uses

Today I have had the van up the ramps for a good poke about and to see why gear changes became so problematic yesterday.

Clutch pedal became very stiff and barely clearing when setting off or pulling up.
Resorted to clutch less shifting most of the day

Found some nice rotten bits as anticipated,
Oil leak is helping keep rust at bay in other places

Rack still has a dribble, still have 3/4 of the Lucas stuff to put in.
Its defiantly slowed it down a lot.

Clutch cable I put on the other month was the culprit.

The inner bit of the outer cable had popped out for some fresh air

Anyone got new old stock stuff for sale.

Front pads,
Rear shoes,
Rear shoe hold down bits.

Yes I know these things don't go fast enough to need brakes

PS its blue and has the Ned mk6 clock conversion (which is almost finished)

Vroom vroom chaps

I was just going to reply saying that I have these, as well as a set of rear drums, and then I remembered that mine had 14" wheels :(

Ahh you had the French version.
I feel your pain.
No need to to hide your head in shame and beat yourself stinging nettles.

Thanks for thinking about me though

Lolz,I might have wanted some wheels

Pads, shoes, and shoes hold down kit to suit the mk5 with 15" wheels would be lovely.

And don't forget the have to fit a blue van.

Suppose I could change the colour to make the bits fit though
