The spring had snapped at the hook bit.

Warmed the next coil and bent it into a suitable shape.

It has been bodged back into a serviceable condition

Decided to replace the sill as it was a nice day for outdoor welding.
This is why I decline any welding jobs for other people.

What you see that needs doing is the tip of the Titanic

Ended off cutting the step out in my quest for decent metal

Lucky for me I had a replacement step in my pile of usable sh*t the wife keeps telling me to get rid of

Took advantage of the now mostly redundant electrical box on the inner wing that the turbo's have by chopping out the unused stuff to make space for the split charge relay and fridge fuse. much neater now.

Today I investigated my sh*t back brakes.
Armed with a Jaffa cake box filled with brake stuff from MinorMatt.

And......
Apart from the obvious
The handbrake cable is seized on 1 side.

Had to bite the bullet and order a replacement from Euro.
£30.22 for a sodding cable.
The lady on the phone said "do you just need the one"
Doesn't fill me with much hope of getting the correct cable

I'm sure that that won't work with a cable tie holding in the piston :? :(

Lolz, its developed a dribble overnight.

Fink it's best to change it before refitting the drum,
Vroom vroom.

Where's my Bottom tapping hammer for detecting holes.

Might as well go in search of corrosion due to not being able to obtain the leaky cylinder today.

Bloody lazy motor factors.

Yes it is

Hind sight is a wonderful thing.

Could have done with changing the drums, postage would have been a killer though.

All back together now. Trailing shoes were slightly less than perfect and had de laminated

Vroom vroom.

Drove it over Honister Pass in the Lake District.

Didn't stop at the slate mine at the top.

Beautiful part of the world that and some of my fave stealth camping spots are there, one just outside Buttermere on the corner layby just above the lovely old chapel and the other continue along that road from the chapel....newlands pass, and park at the top, climb the hill and absolutely stunningly gorgeous views, or just below the slate mine by the little stream 8)
