Sprayed my engine with a spray bottle and soapy water found 2 air leacks finaly, 1 in the first Exhaust Manifold Bolt and one in the Throttle Body Top Centre.
Researched threw the forum today found a great thread to show me how to blank my EGR valve and also how to remove my Exhaust Manifold so i can hopefully find gaskets to stop the leaks in the Exhaust Manifold
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=166649&hilit=THROTTLE+BODY&c=1
Stummbled across thread while looking for leaking exhaust manifold.
Now just got to keep looking for how to remove and seal the throttle body and thought id blank the EGR while im at it.
Van Booked in to have timming belt done in 2 weeks (im abit scared to actually let the mechanic do it but suppose i have to learn to trust someone to work on it).
Also looking threw trying to get ideas and or supplier of rust replacment panels for a spare van i have sitting around, it a pretty big rust panel though its over the passenger front RHD aussie where the 2nd battery sits its completely gone i put a pic up never know someone may have the cut out.

Fixing this, after covering 1,100 miles this week my old van decided it'd had enough and died right outside my home!

Teeth stripped on cambelt, six bent pushrods and a broken rocker. At least I don't have to walk far to fix it.

All sorted now.
Nearly all the teeth on that belt were just about ready to fall off, obviously I should have changed the belt sooner
I love the fact that you can sort out a cambelt failure with just a few bits and the tools you carry in your van.

Too right, the simple mechanics is why most of us keep fixing them up and keeping them on the road eh :D

Fitted a spare turbo cartridge.

A drive up to Northumberland showed that sometimes the turbo was spinning and sometimes it wasn't. It had clearly been worn out for some time (there were times in our Spain trip earlier this year when you could hear it wasn't spinning) but it had reached a point where spindle was worn is such as way that occasionally it would lock up and so didn't start with the engine.

The spare cartridge will keep it going until I get a new one.

More welding.

Turbo core arrived today, but not changing it until an exhaust manifold gasket arrives.

More welding soon.

Hurrah for brute force and ignorance :D

And lube.

Nice bit of product placement there.

Don't know if it was the lube or the 4lb hammer that shifted it.
1 down and 1 to go

Fitted new turbo core, oil + filter change (no point running old oil through the new turbo), air filter, and new exhaust manifold gasket (never had one fitted).

Still adding more storage in the back, getting ready to fit a portaloo, which means losing a set of drawers.
