Pottered around yesterday trying to sort a fuel cut off in a very frustrating day. The best bit was an impulse purchase of these mint P38 seats I picked up locally.

Anyone fitted these seats before to a MK3? Will be putting in swivel bases so think I will need to get something custom made for the frame...

Well, I did have every intention of using 1.2mm, by local body panel shop sold long pieces pre-bent into 100x100mm angle. But they were shut. In fact they'd shut down at the end of March, so no go there.

My neighbour, however, had something very similar, and zinc plated too, but only maybe 0.9mm. That's what i went with as I wasn't in a position to bend anything that big in my sheet metal folder, namely two pegs in a vice.

0.9mm is a bit thin i agree, but surely no worse than the rust that could be pulled out by hand. I reinforced the hole for the spare wheel winder by doubling it up. It's gone in nicely so far.

I'm currently making the ends to weld to the inner sill. This is thicker stuff, maybe 1.2mm, but not sure as it's never written on the inside of a storage heater front panel.

Crossmember finished.

Front wheel arches & steps next, as well as the nearside front shock mount.

I bought 2 Mk5 lwb vans fitted with 3.8litre V6 motors (it was a 2 for 1 sale :D ) they arrived by transporter today and within half an hour managed to lock the keys in one :( . Looks like a may have to drill out a lock to gain entry.
Transit VG 07/2000 4EB 2.5tdi Mid roof Lwb (camper), VG 1999 3.8ltr V6 LWB, VG 1997 3.8ltr V6 LWB and a Transit VG 09/1996 4EB 2.5tdi Low roof Swb (spare parts)

Started pulling bits off to replace a leaking radiator. Engine space is a little lacking with the V6.

Replaced my broken clutch cable on my TD2.5. After reading up about previous on how to do it, turned out to be an easy job.
