Help OBD Software TRANSIT 1995 2.5TDI 100Ps

Postby transit9292 » Sat Nov 19, 2016 4:21 am

Hi all.

I am looking since 3 months for a software who can read OBD codes from my Transit MK5 2.5 TDI 100PS EPIC. I have a 16pin conector (OBD2 style) but system is a OBD1 i think. ELM327 FORSCAN is not working. Have you find a DTC codes reader or a diagnosis software who is working of this truck?

I think it is a ALDL protocol at 8192baud , but i am not sure. I have already a adapter Serial to USB FT232RL but i need a software who can scan the serial COM.

Many thanks if you have a solution.

Although you have an OBD type socket, Mk5's (1995-2000) are not OBD compliant, and cannot (so far as we know!) be read properly by anything other than the tools designed to read them. These were the FDS2000 used by the dealers, or the hand held Lucas Laser2000.
Some say that they can be read using the modern Ford IDS, but only the genuine tool, and not the Chinese clones :|

I saw on another forum that ELM327 with FORSCAN work fine on Transit 1996-2000.

For OBD1 cable here is a link: http://www.firebirdnation.com/forums/topic/457761-make-an-obd1-cable-for-under-20/#entry888714

But i have not (yet) find the software for Ford.

Fit a mechanical Bosch fuel pump and bin the EPIC pump - save yourself the stress.
If I knew then what I know now, I'd have taken it to the scrapyard...

Glad I didn't though :)

I look for something not expensive.

I begin to think that i am the only one on the Earth who have a Transit 1995 and want to have OBD info.

All the infomation you asked for is in this post ^^^^

Lucas Laser 2000
Ford FDS 2000 (same as Lucas?)

Possibly Ford IDS if genuine.

These are the ONLY systems that will get sensible and accurate communication with the EPIC ECU. Others will retrieve codes, but may not be either accurate, or actually a true EPIC fault - some flag up stuff that isn't fitted or OBD compliant i.e.EGR valves always show faulty.

Ooyah
Ooyah :(

And I also noticed ... that doesn't include the module you'd probably need for a Transit!

A few members on here have them and will read codes for other members, if you can travel to them ... If they have to travel to you, beer tokens may be involved.

Of course, that depends on where you are ...

Probably not a lot :(

Maybe ceurieusneus might know someone around the North of France. But even he's in Belgium so it's a long shot :(

I think maybe a better bet would be to find some nice, busy, French motoring forums and start fishing around there saying what code reader you need and does anyone have one, and if they do, could they read your codes for you...?

Itryed and nothing. But Ford is (great) american car so i thing that the most users and infos are there.

On those Transit forum people use Forscan with ELM327 and it works for Transit >1996. Problem is with Transit 1994-1995.

For those i find scaner software: EASE http://www.scantoolsoftware.com/index.html#interfaces but i can not yet test'it.

Bonjour transit9292

Hello transit9292
I too am looking for the right diagnostic tool for my 1995 2.5 TD transit.
I noticed the presence of an obd plug whose external appearance corresponds to OBD2, but I am at the 3rd non-operational OBD 327 module.
I have already tried to reach you through other forums with no results.
Have you finally found a solution for this vehicle model.
Thank you, see you soon I hope.
