well i done the same procedure but it still create a leak only if high rev as if the oil inside the engine is splashing directly to the seal. replace 3 seals and ends up with the same results. after installing the new seal, the engine will not leak even if idling for the whole day. im thinking of taking the camshaft sleeve aka spacer, and ask them to make the diameter a bit larger and see how it goes. what i observe with the spacer is, the seal is not that fit onto the sleeve

Have you checked that the seal is centralised in the alloy plate on the engine as this is adjustable. If you change the seal with a sprung lip it has a better chance of fixing the problem unless you strip it down to line up the plate.

It seems strange that it keeps leaking have you got a crack in the back plate can you tell if it is comeing past the lip of the seal or on the out side of the seal have you put sealer on the outside of the seal when you knock it in . Now fo a off the wall ideas can you get two seals in the houseing with both lips of the seals seated on the centre and still get the camwheel on I’ve done this before on a gearbox on a truck pto but that because of wear on the box which just gives me another thought is cam and bearings worn so when timeing belt tension up it’s pulling it off centre

dumper - its leaking passing the lip. i already checked the plate for crack and found none. and logically if plate is cracked, normally it will drip oil no matter what. but on my case...its not leaking at all unless high revs. and the funny thing is.....if i high rev the car while the car is standing..it doesnt leak at all. but if i drive it on high rev then it will leak. as if the engine is pushing oil thru the shaft. but the crankshaft seal doesnt leak at all and it use the spring type seal. i couldnt manage to find the spring type seal for the camshaft. but when i installed the seal to the sleeve, it feels loose but i checked the seal dimensions and its definitely correct.

bambi mk 1 - yes its centralized. but i installed it deep enough that its leaning on the camshaft holding plate

i dont think i could installed 2 seal at once because of the groove on the sleeve, i think its for pulling out the sleeve of the camshaft. i think the other way i want to try is to make the sleeve bigger. what do you think?

why not order an oversize/undersize seal from 1 of the many online seal/bearing suppliers.
measure OD,ID and depth you require and use these sizes to search for a better fitting seal.

Due to wear and tear over the years a direct factory replacement is obviously not working.

eg of ordering by size.
ford spigot bearing £25-£30.
SKF bearing of the same size £4 delivered

Are you sure its not coming from somewhere else and the fan and air through the rad is not blowing round to camshaft seal years ago we had a dumper engine with a oil leak that looked like it was the crankshaft seal like you we put new seals in twice and it was still leaking with the engine fitted it was difficult to see the leak in the end removed engine and put on test bed to run it up it turned out to be passing a o ring on the dipstick sometimes it’s not wear you think it is comes from but as gotgcoalman says try for oversized seal it’s got to be cheaper then getting a new sleeve made

To find oil leaks in the past that are difficult to find I have used talcum powder to stop the oil travelling round the engine spray it in areas of the engine to stop it tracking round and giving a false diagnosis of the leak

Dumper - definitely its the camshaft seal because oil residue focused on that area. i thought its the oil pan gasket. Did replaced those and the engine still developed an oil leak. I will try to find the oversize seal and try it. Hopefully it works.

Just another thought are all you breather pipes clear and not blocked and pressureising the crankcase and blowing oil out the week point

breather pipe has been checked and there's quite amount of vacuum produce by the intake. at one point i replaced the oil cap due to the intake always have oil residue and once i replaced the cap. the oil residue problem inside the intake was solved. could it be an oil pressure relieve valve causing this? i have read in forums that these engine have an oil pressure relieve valve.

It’s worth putting a pressure gauge on and checking it but you’d think it would show up on outher seals as well on a York 2.4 I rebuilt years ago the relieve valve stuck shut and it put that much pressure into the steel oil filter it stretches the boul and blow ou the o ring your problem seems strange maybe even a bad batch of seals when you get a problem like this it can be so soul destroying trying to get to the bottom of it when you’re doing everything right and still the same

what grade of oil are you using?

I used 5w30 as recomended by mr ford a few years ago and found I had oil weeping past MANY seals.
changed back to 10w40 and no problems since :?

Dumper - do you know the location of the oil pressure relieve valve for the banana engine. It might worth a try to see if indeed an issue with the relieve valve. Its PITA to solve this mystery oil leak only on high rev. Thats why i kept on thinking maybe something wrong with the oil pressure. It doesnt blow out the seal tho. Its just found its way thru the lip of the seal on moderate and high rev driving. Here's a catch tho....the engine will only leaks if in normal engine temperature. Doesnt leak when cold
