Have tried local Ford dealer, eBay and national search site for Transits and I success with this. Does anyone think it would be possible to either use the Mk 6 transponder which is available on eBay or to replace the ignition unit with an unchipped one which I can also get ( ignition barrel and keys)? Thanks for any advice. Paul

Thanks to MinorMatt for sorting this out for me. Apparently the Mk6 one works and I now have few options for purchase.

I didn't say a mk6 one works...

The ones I pointed at were mk5. Might have been carryover to mk6 though...

Sorry if I've missed anyone but Ithink it's as you say...the genuine Ford part you directed me to says works for Transits 94-06 so must be good for both. Thanks again.

If the mk6 one doesn't work,I'll likely have a mk5 one but will have to check...

Thanks will let you know. Assuming it's the transponder that's faulty but that looks most likely at the moment

What's the actual fault,

Fault is sometimes struggles to start either sounds like turning over or no sound at all. Had new battery and starter motor last year. My friend is a mechanic and says he's seen similar issues resolved by changing the transponder antenna. I tried to get auto electrician to look at it he's not been in touch yet but said it would take a few days in his workshop to assess so change of transponder seems cheaper option to try first. It's a 2.5 DI pulling 3.5tonne Autosleeper motorhome am pretty sure it's a Turbo. Thanks for the interest

If the pats receiver was faulty, the immobiliser LED will flash rapidly when you turn ignition on,then if left will eventually flash a 2 digit fault code.
If,when you turn ignition on,the led comes on for a couple of seconds and goes out,the fault is not pats / immob. Related.

Could possibly be poor connections at battery lead ends,or poor main earth to engine, they break down internally but look ok.Substituting lead with a jump lead when is 'faulting' will tell you.

At risk of appearing stupid I can't see an immobiliser LED on my dash. There is a flashing red light above the internal courtesy light console which goes solid for a few seconds then goes off after ignition key turned but that's about it? Thanks.ImageImage

Then it not your immobiliser causing your problems. Like already said it will rapid flash to show a fault if it’s not doing that then the key code is being read correctly.
