Hi mk5 experts

have coolant coming out from under cam cover. suspect pump leakage.last changed 70,0000km 13 years ago.

does anyone have pictures of whats involved...i understand removing the timing belt is not required.

came across this

http://www.fordtransitforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=19303

are there pictures..i do have a haynes manual.....also does anyone have a source of parts of their transit online

i found this

https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/

what are the best brands for water pump, timing belt and tensioner....does water pump come with o rings??

The water pump is a gasket I always use blue hylermar on gasket or similar sealent as for removing the pump remove the grill drain and remove radiator remove viscous fan and then pulley then the alternator belt cam cover then remove the pump as for make of pump the last one I used was ford but try local factors I am not a fan of eBay may be cheaper but if you get a bad one it’s easier to sort it local

Put an FAI pump on mine about 3 years ago.
About 30 quid from local motor factor.

can you explain why my haynes has a 4 wrench out of 5 difficulty in timing belt replacement compared with water pump 2 wrench out of 5..dont you loosen a tensioner to slacken the rubber belt then tension refitted belt and done??..is the tensioning just a check of deflection of tensioned belt with ruler.??apologies if i have made this sound simple.Rick.

ford part numbers for mk5 smiley
water pump kit ME914F8591A2B
timing belt 924F6K288AA
pully tensioner 844F6K254A1A
rear brake shoe.280mm15inch94VB2200BB

I PUT all of these codes into onlinecarparts.co.uk and it gives you every manufacturer of that part.

hope that helps

No need to disturb the timing belt.
There's enough wiggle room

I got the proper viscous fan spanner years ago so I use it but can do without it but if doing belt gives you more room

The timeing belt on a di must be one of the easiest to do and if you get it wrong you are not going to do a lot of damage to the engine bent push rods or snapped rocker arm if you follow the how to link on hear you will not go wrong
