The easiest way is to cut almost in half and split with a big chisel or similar.
They really are almost welded on and a pig to get off with rust etc.

On Friday / Saturday last I removed the hub / disc assemblies complete and used two lump hammers and a big vice to separate the old discs from the hubs. I had to hit them very hard many times as indicated on here. The o/s outer bearing cage was broken and almost welded onto the stub axle....it needed an angle grinder and a chisel to remove it...but afterwards the stub axle itself cleaned up well enough to take the new bearings and everything went back together as it should. So thank you for the advice....I might not have had the nerve to take on the job without.
