Link is about 2,5D with Bosch, jono40 has Lucas EPIC... :?
In EPIC EGR (with position sensor) and throttle plate are actuated by vacum, CVT valve and PCM. It is quite different system as with fully mechanical Bosch pomp.
If you blanked EGR with metal plate - that's the best you can do.

Wojciech, by any chance, do you know the purpose of the butterfly?

Looking on first picture - butterfly 25(throttle) is mounted in inlet between turbocompressor and EGR 24. Butterfly is controlled together by the same vacu valve 26. If butterfly is closed, EGR is opened (on idle) - and vice-versa (higher engine speed). In this situation, on idle engine takes from EGR far more exhaust gases than without mounted butterfly. Big level of exhaust gases and low level of fresh air (oxygen) reduce emission of NOx (nitrogen oxides). Usually classic diesel works on idle with big air excess, it is causes of high lever emission of NOx. For environmentalists nitrogen oxides are something terrible. But for engine exhaust gases recirculation is the same, as for people to drink own... piddle.

Second idea from environmentalists it is system start-stop.

Latest their idea is liquidate whole world diesel engines production. :!:

Thanks for the info. Yes I'm of the same mind mostly, If it works don't touch it",.....unless there's and extra couple of kw's to be had.
