What are these parts called?

Postby Optomisticnick » Mon Sep 24, 2018 10:20 pm

Hi, I’m just looking for a bit of knowledge on what’s what and hopefully the names of some of the parts from my mk3 county, hopefully someone here will know.

Firstly what are the rubber stops above the leaf springs called?

The rubber stops I've always referred to as bump stops.

The first image is showing the handbrake cable and some of the outer sheath is rubbed through and showing steel brades, as long as the internal brake wire moves freely then I don't see a problem.

The bottom image I believe is showing the load sensing valve which basically changes the rear brake efficiency based on the weight of the van when loaded. Other than that I can't say if it is working or not. :D

Is this what the small plaque with a graph on in the passenger step is relating to?

When my load sencing valve whent on my mk3 it seized on the piston inside and had no brakes on the rear and would lock up the front brakes. the only Real way to test it if it’s working okay is on break rollers you can adjust it to give more brakeing efficiency on the rear

I'm on a crap monitor but it looks like the fuel bleed nipple on the side of the injection pump.

That sounds about right, just used for getting air out of the system?

Can someone tell me the name (or even better a link) of the rubber parts that the gearbox crossmember sits on, some kind of ring around the mounting bolt.

Cheers.
