Postby Saukstas » Mon Oct 01, 2018 6:46 am

...and there are two bolts. Does it matter, on which one it goes - one on top, or one on bottom?

Thanks!

If you’re asking where to put the main battery earth lead on the starter it can go on any it will even work on the bellhousesing bolts some starter motors have earth nut on the case of the motor .
Ps it also helps if you put down what model and year of van cheers

Hi, I just thought to mention that besides the main earth lead from battery to the starter that there is also a smaller earth lead of about 60 amp capacity from the battery to the frame of the vehicle ( usually bolted just behind the headlight). The main leads that run from the battery to the engine ( both positive & negative) are continually flexing as the engine vibrates on its rubbers and often need replacing after 10 to 15 years!

ok, strange....
everything went fine, i've started my van and been driving with it

but after a week or so without use, i can't start it again.

And where positive wire goes to starter, there's kinda smoke (burning), if i turn the key for longer time

any ideas?

Assuming the securing nut is tight, more than likely the crimp on the cable has failed, not unusual. Chop it off and replace with a new crimp or replace the lead.
