I've had a very similar problem... Same rear right wheel but single axle. But in a more difficult situation as only have tools that are in van and solar power and finding it hard to get spare parts as I'm currently living in van in France in the Alps.

I've managed to find 3 new studs, which I'm waiting for would of liked 6 but can only find 3.. my others are not currently as damaged as yours... And I've also got an M16 die coming to try and salvage 3 others.. My nuts took most damage but I have some land rover ones on way as thread is same I believe but 27mm hex head on M16* 1.5 thread.

Now the hub is also damaged I believe what you can see in pic is these cone washers that have caused damage to hub? I have tried filing them flat but they are not all level so got another 2nd hand hub on way and another 6 of them cone washers.

Next - wheels.... I currently have 1 very damaged wheel and 1 very slightly damaged where I'm had to drive it in meantime (before I filed hub down) whilst I wait for these parts to arrive. Since I filed hub flatter I have not seen any filing around studs/nuts but get slot of vibration at 40mph. The badly damaged wheel I am going to need to redrill holes between the 6 that are already there. The central bore is ok and I have some dividers/calipers and I feel I will be able to mark out accurately enough for it to be a spare.

Does anyone know what size hole i need to drill? Then taper?

I've tried Moto mobil I need normal thread studs not left hand ones! They have the left hand ones in-stock but not normal!

Can you not get the cones from a later year & see if they fit? there was a recall to fit them (cones) as they left them off at the factory but i cant remember the model year :?

Mk1/2/3 (65-91) use tapered wheel nuts to center the wheels and are not hubcentric.

Later vans (mk4/1991 on) are hubcentric for 6 stud variants.

The issue with the earlier stud centric/tapered nut arrangements on the rear of a twin wheel is that there is no way to center it - unless this/similar conical washer is in place.

Mk1-mk3 parts are interchangeable for this so it should be possible to get the parts without too much difficulty.

If you are on facebook, join the "mk3 massive" or mk1/2 page and ask. I'm sure someone there will be able to help (Chris Stacey would be a good start).

I also have a 6 stud hub from a later axle - I believe the studs are the same.

As said LR defenders use the same thread pitch and have tapered nuts so would get you back on the road. Think I still have some of these
