That's an interesting comment, (because I trust your judgement), as I have a couple of Dayco belts in the garage, that I bought when I had the Mk5. I bought one of each size, because being a July '97 build, I wasn't sure which it had.
When I actually changed the belt, I ended up buying and using a genuine Ford kit because of being told (at the time) that Dayco werecheap and nasty
That not being the case, I'll dig them out and sell them

When you look at the 1.8 d mk 3 Fiesta the belt broke just by looking at them till Ford changed their oe supplier that had a teflon coating on the teeth an guess who the supplier was

I never had one break at less than 100k
