Are you sure it is limited? I would imagine it will be the laws of physics that stop it rather than the software. :|

yes i am sure ,cause rpm wont go over 4000 :D .so if it can reach 160 km/h at 4000rpm it could reach more on 8000rpm it is physics

On most transits I know, there is a standard limit of about 105mph 168.981kph I'm not sure about older mk5 like yours though.

If you want to check that limiter or make it go faster then you'll need a remap anyway because I don't believe that ford diagnostics will remove the 100~ limiter only the 60/70mph limiter.

No offence though but I expect doing 160+kph in a standard mk5 must be exciting

I wish you the best and hope you find the answer, there's a few clever chaps about that may help. 8)

It sounds like it’s not a speed limiter but the pump governor that’s the restriction
Mk5 transits don’t have any type of speed restrictor fitted that I ever heard of or read about on here.

I think you will find that the DI only revs to 4000 to 4250 definitely not 8000 revs to check what the max revs are run it in th3 rd gear to see what your max possibly revs are all Diesel engines with a mechanical pump have a in built governer to set the engine at its max permissible revs
Found this previous post if it helps
The Bosch injector pump has a 4000 rpm rated governor, which means the governor starts to de fuel at 4000 rpm the engine will run faster than that, but you won't get maximum fueling higher than 4000, unless you shim the governor spring. I'd fit a turbo, more power and quieter too.

it has turbo .so if i shim the governor i will get more rev and hp and of course it will increases fuel consumption?
And can i get more hp from turbo?

At work on mk1& 2 2.4 York engines we used to adjust the max speed stop on throttle arm to get more speed out of them it helped a bit but when we did it to VW LT35 it blew up if the boss had found out we'd probably got the sack so if you do up the revs you may kill the engine

Diesel engines are not designed to rev high, even turbo ones. 160km/h is way enough for a MK5.
