lost keys

Postby kennystag » Tue Feb 12, 2019 2:20 pm

Hi al,
I lost my ignition key for my 2000 2.5 TD MK5, how can I get a key or get it started, can I get the key number from a diagnostic scanner as I have a very good ford Foxwell Scanner model number NT624. Can anybody please help.
Cheers

Only the original selling dealer would have had a record of the key number, and it's doubtful that they would have, after 19 years.

A GOOD locksmith will sort you out, at least the one I use in Warrington will. Guess he'd have to come to you. Get a spare key this time!

A good auto locksmith should be able to supply, cut, and program a new key all in one go; as said, make sure you get a second one done ASAP, if not at the same time :)

To my knowledge, it's never been done on a TD, unless it has been converted to a manual pump :(

A good locksmith will supply a new key and program the built in chip using a programmer. At least mine did ten yrs ago.

It can be done... but needs rare parts. I had to do it on my blue van
