Thanks for the tip Matt. Van not running, cleared the codes and did another reading. These ones below came right back on again. PATS led flashing code 3.1 now instead of 3.2, due to new ecu. But does that rule out the possibility of the previous wiring fault still being present?

It says its a PATS ecu... so will never run with it! That will be a mismatch between ECU and PATS module.

Those codes are saying there is an issue with the air temperature sensor or wiring - which won't stop it running. I *think* its only a minor limp so you wouldn't really notice it - but not 100% aure on that

Taking Joinermans advice and doing the manual conversion, need to to the timing belt anyways and reoccuring fault codes means it would limp even if I got it started with the Lucas. I found a 145 Bosch on offer on eBay, would this one be a good bet :?:

Might be ok it might not
I don’t like the description on eBay, all sounds made up considering he is also selling 3 or 4 other pumps and more or less the same description for each
I have no idea who the seller is it may even be somebody from on here
But the fact he won’t accept returns at all rings alarm bells to me :!:
The pump is the correct model you need and will work perfectly providing it’s as described, but by the dirt of it I would be tempted to look elsewhere if possible and try and get it off a running engine so you know it should be clean inside, that pump looks like it was lying in a pile of oily parts for years not what the seller described that’s for sure.

Thanks for the advice mate. I can get a 108 locally for about the same price with the injector pipes, but dont know how much worse off I would be with the 108 instead of the 145 :?:

From what I read on here almost any transit Bosch pump will work ok, but it is generally thought a 145 or 146 pump is a little better but that may be hearsay I don’t know, plenty of people put on non 145 /146 pumps and worked perfectly,
I don’t know what a 108 pump is from so I can’t advise you but wait about till later and someone will advise.

True but that is his get out of jail card if you fit it and it isn’t working correctly and by the state of it I wouldn’t pay anything for it to be honest  pay more than £150 with no returns and like you say it’s listed as possibly f**ked
Try to find another pump would be my advice, they aren’t that rare even with them being exported there is still lots around maybe even another forum member has a pump you could buy.

The 108 pump was fitted to 70 and 76ps engines from mid nineties on, the 145 pump was fitted to 76ps engines from mid nineties on, either one if fitted to the turbo engine will work but will need the fueling increasing to run properly.

Thanks for the clarification Chuggy. Managed to get a 145 that seems to be ok. Now waiting for a fuel feed line to fit the Bosch pump but cant seem to find a fuel return line, is the Bosch fuel return line fitting also different to that of the Lucas pump?

Made some progress with the conversion, hoping here to share a few tips that might help someone do their own. Three of the injection pipes off the LUCAS fit easily to the Bosch but the bottom left one need bending. Cut the bracket holding the pipes together as shows below.

Then I pulled the bottom pipe upwards by the help of a rope while a friend screwed on the connector.

The fuel feed line I ordered doesnt fit to the connector in the fuel filter, will have to fit the banjobolt to the old line. Found the screw that goes with the banjobolt, its Bosch number is F002D13580. This along with the bracket for the accelerator cable are the only parts I am short of to complete the conversion. Will fabricate the bracket myself, but found the screw on eBay for 18£ including postage (a bit dear for a single screw  ).

Dragging on a bit, but the van is now running with the Bosch pump fitted :D .Relieved indeed. There seems to be some mixed views on the firing order of the Lucas and Bosch pumps here on the forum, but I simply used the old Lucas injector pipes with slight bending (mine was an Epic pump, cant say if it will apply for the cav). Now though I have to deal with the engine management light staying on aswell as the airbag light before the van can pass its technical expection.

Doing a bosch conversion? Don’t give up. Finally got there thanks to the advice from members here. The old lady passed the technical today and is now ready for adventure :D .
