Mk 3 crankshaft pulley

Postby Barleycorn » Fri May 31, 2019 8:30 pm

Hello I have a 1998 Mk 3 with the 2.5 turbo diesel. Anyone know where I can source a sensibly priced crankshaft pulley? Thanks.

1998 is mk5.

Turbo and non turbo pulleys are the same, but aircon variants are different.

Do you have aircon or not?

1998 should have a pulley accomodating a 28mm cambelt (97-2000), earlier variants used a 25mm belt - but the pulley for one of these will still fit

Thanks but I'm sure mine's a Mk 3 (with the smiley face) It was probably registered later as it is a motor caravan and perhaps took a long time to build? When I gave the reg number to 2 different motor factors they gave me the later (Mk 5?) type which is held on by 3 bolts. Mine slides onto a shaft with a key, and has the pulley for the timing belt on it. Apparently, the only firm making copy ones has run out of stock, and may not bother getting them made again. They are available from Ford for £440 + VAT, whilst the copy ones are £120.

Ehhh? Mk5 pulleys are as you describe.

Smiley face is a mk5

This is a 91-97 pulley. The only difference between a 97-2000 pulley is the bit where the cambelt goes is 2.6mm wider...
