Leak from top / back of engine?

Postby williamraff » Wed Jun 19, 2019 7:39 pm

This is a bit of a silly question as I don’t have much to go on but last time I started the van there was a leak evident under the van strong enough to leave a puddle in a few seconds.

I switched her off straight away but wasn’t able to check if it was water or diesel - my question is - is there anything a5 the top / rear of the engine bay which could be the culprit?

I am going to have a closer look tomorrow but just wondered if anyone else had experienced similar?

Many thanks, Will.

Yeah! I'm dealing with that now - but I still don't know what it is. I replaced the head gasket thinking it could be that, but lo and behold it is not.

Check all your injectors - I found one was loose/broken and has been leaking out the leak off cap. Sadly I'm now dealing with some sort of cock-up during the head gasket so can't bother with the oil/fuel leak just now.

Hopefully someone else will have more and better helping information?

Maybe something simple like the rocker box gasket but you need to find out what’s it’s leaking

Oil is usually back of rocker box cover leaking.
Water is the heater hose running round the rocker cover.
Diesel worn leak off pipes/injector seals. (head will be soaked with fuel)
